A Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) is a grouping of devices within a LAN that are configured to communicate as if they were on the same network, even if they are physically located on different segments of the LAN.
VLANs are used to segment a LAN into smaller, more manageable groups, and to allow for more flexibility in the way that devices communicate with each other.
Wide Area Networks (WAN)
A Wide Area Network (WAN) is a network that spans a large geographical area, such as a city, region, or even a country. It typically consists of multiple smaller networks, such as Local Area Networks (LANs), connected together. WANs are often used to connect multiple offices or locations of a single organisation, or to connect multiple organisations together.
They enable communication and resource sharing among different locations and allow users to access resources and services from any location within the network.
